Conical flask (beakerflask) a chemical laboratory common glass instrument by the German chemist Richard Ahrendt Maier (Richard Erlenmeyer) invented in 1861. Is a triangular shape of the vertical profile of the titration reactor. A small mouth and a big bottom, is conducive to the titration process oscillation, full reaction and the liquid is not easy to splash. The container can be heated in water bath or electric furnace. Appearance of a flat conical, wide narrow, a cylindrical neck, above a neck width of the opening, and sometimes available made of cork or rubber stopper closed. There are several scales on the bottle to indicate the capacity of the bottle to be filled.
Conical flask is generally used in titration experiments. In order to prevent liquid drops when titration spilled out of the bottle, causing errors in experiments, and then the bottle on the magnetic stirrer to stir. Can also be used to hold the bottleneck with the hand to shake the wrist, you can smooth stirring evenly. It can also be used for containing reactants, quantitative analysis, reflux heating, and its appearance makes it very suitable for these tasks. The long necked part besides convenient plug, can avoid loss of slow heating and chemical spillages; as for the flat and wide at the bottom allows for Erlenmeyer flask containing more solution, and facilitate the use of glass rod stirring and allow the conical flask flat on the table.
Cone bottle can also be used in general experiments, to produce gas or as a reaction vessel. Its conical structure is relatively stable and will not be dumped.
Conical flask due to very common, and the shape is more interesting, so it is often used to as experiments in chemistry or chemical symbols, scattered in many signs and instructions.
